Jeff Goes Back To School

September 3, 2001

His lifelong adventure continues !

Jeffrey started his second year in school on Monday September 3. After all the trouble we had with Jeff being unhappy at school last year weighed heavily on our minds. But we spent the previous two weeks building up the excitement for him. This was fairly easy because Jeff is now going to a different school, much closer to home. Last year, by the time we move to Mandelieu, this school was full and Jeff had to go across town to a different school. But this school is much bigger with alot more students, which means alot more activity. The first day rolls around and Jeff is in good spirits and, again, is eager to go to school. He likes riding in my new red car, and he likes it when I play the Mussogorsky piece from Fantasia really loud. The first day of school, and everyone since, have been wonderful. Jeff is happy, gives his teacher, Madame Tardieu, a big kiss, and then runs in and starts playing. No fuss, no whining, no crying. Whew !!

But it was like this last year as well. The first two weeks went well, then all the trouble started. So this is the second week. Next week will be the true test. But here are some pictures of Jeff and his new school.

[Update 4 months later]

Well, the school year has gone very well. Jeff enjoys his class, has some friends, and is happy to go to school. A complete turn around from last year. Now, I drop him off, and he runs into the class room and I have to stop him to give him a kiss. The only disappointment is that his teacher became ill in late October and is expected to be out several months. Jeff Misses her.

Here are two pictures taken by Jeff's school. The first is of the big guy himself, the second is his class picture. Jeff is easy to find. His main teacher was out ill, but the second teacher in the class is the woman. The man is the directeur, or principal, of the school. We love the first picture.

Here is Jeff in his new classroom. We don't know many parents yet, but there are a few English speakers. We are hoping their kids speak English as well so Jeff can have some buddies this year.

Jeff is in school everyday, except Wednesday, from 8:30 till 12:00. I drop him off on the way to work and Patti picks him up. He always gets a good report from his teacher ! Here is what his school looks like. In both pictures Jeff's classroom is the last set of windows. I can see him in class playing when I leave to go to work. Once again, I couldn't be more proud of the big fella.
