Buckingham Palace Pictures
February 8-11, 2001
We thought the kids might like to
see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. When we watched it before it
was quite spectacular with all the soldiers in their bear skin hats and red
coats marching around in unison. So we went and go there about an hour early.
But, alas, the queen was not in residence, which means the guard change is not
as elaborate. Plus, being winter, all the guards had on their gray coats. So it
was not as memorable as we remembered. Since it was cold, windy, and the boys
were bored and fussy, we left about 15 minutes into it and went and got a hot
chocolate.
But here are some pictures in front of the Palace. If you've never seen then the
Palace before it is a bit disappointing. You think the Queen would live in an
elaborate and ornate castle. But the Palace is quite mundane.
Here Jeff spots one of the guards starting to march around. I told him that
the guard was off to look for little boys misbehaving and treating their dads
poorly. But he doesn't believe me when I tell him that stuff anymore.
