LONDON
The greatest city in the world
London was great !! Steve had a
business trip to meet with BT on Thursday and Friday, so the family came along
and stayed through the weekend. Patti and the kids had a great time while poor
old dad had to work. They went to the British Science Museum on Thursday where
the whole basement is devoted to hands on kids stuff. They spent hours there.
Friday morning Patti and the kids went to Bramley's Fun House, which is like the
Discovery Zone or the Jungle in the Bay Area. Friday afternoon was at the London
Transport Museum.
Steve met the family after work on Friday and we all went over to Picadilly
Circus and got some very mediocre fish and chips. Saturday and Sunday were then
spent visiting all the famous tourist sites, pictures from which are on the next
few pages. Click on the names in the menu to the left to see the pictures.
We met Steve's Uncle Alan for lunch on Saturday and that was very nice. We had
lunch in a pub just around the corner from Big Ben. The weather was not perfect,
but after some initial rain on Thursday and a little bit Saturday afternoon, the
rest of the time was just cold and overcast. Actually, pretty darn good weather
for February in one of the wettest winters in London history.
Have fun looking at the pictures !
Here is a picture of Connor, Jeff, and Steve in front of Big Ben, which was
Jeff's favorite site. He is really into clocks now and he loved hearing the bell
chime. Big Ben is actually the bell, not the clock. Jeff will be happy to tell
you that now. We made a point of being in front of Big Ben at noon so that Jeff
could here it chime twelve times. That wasn't enough for him though. I think we
stopped by the place 4 times so he could hear the chimes. Don't go at 1 PM
though. That's not really worth it. You can see the Millennium Wheel, or London
Eye, in the background, as well as a cool shot of a double-decker.
