Valbonne, France
October 14, 2001
Valbonne is a small village near us that is very nice and has a beautiful old village. Valbonne holds several fêtes a year in the old village. In October it is the Fête du Terrior, or just the party to celebrate the local wares. We met several of our friends there and just did the scene. Here's the proof
Madeline is one of Jeff and Connors best friends. Here they are in the area with the live farm animals, chickens more specifically. They enjoyed this, as well as the very large turkey that kept gobbling the whole time we were there.
Every fête has to have a face painter. What made a difference this time is that Jeff wanted his face painted. He wanted a red bunny rabbit, so I told the woman a "lapin rouge". Well, that must be French for "Red Indian" because that is what he got. Here is Jeff getting his face painted, followed by the finished product, and a final picture of him with the painter (Oh la la !)
Here are some pictures of what Valbonne looks like on a bright, sunny, October afternoon. This is the main square. Very colorful.
Here is Jeff in the main square, on one of the stages. And another side street. The picture does not do it justice.
Here is Patti with our friends Caroline and Ramon. They are Madeline's parents, and as you can see, Madeline's sibling is well on the way. Notice the fancy restaurant in the background "Auberge Provencal". It's actually quite good.
Here is the beautiful Patti on one of Valbonne's Rues, and the church tower in the back. Notice the ornate iron work around the bell, very much like what you see in Aix-en-Provence.
One final shot of one of the acts that comes through the town square throughout the day. These guys were all banging on the instrument attached to the guy in front of them (except for the first guy, of course). They had just stopped playing and were looking up giving thanks to the Sun gods for providing a beautiful 80 degree day.
