EuroDisney

July 1-3, 2001

We had been trying to meet up with our friends Pierre, Ann, and Alexandre the first 8 months we were in France. We finally decided to meet for a few days in EuroDisney. So we piled in the car and drove up through the Bourgogne region of France into EuroDisney, which is just outside of Paris, almost due East. In the U.S. EuroDisney suffers from an image of being a place full of rude, un-bathed French people. But we found it quite the opposite. It is a bit smaller than Disneyland, but since it is only 10 years old everything looks new and is very brightly painted. We were told that the bright color paint jobs were due to the much wetter weather they get in that area. Discoveryland was the future-themed portion of the park and it was very well done. Steve thought it was the best part. The lines were not too bad, certainly nowhere near as bad as some of the times we have been to Disneyland. Steve has now been to all three Disney theme parks. A very fun time was had by all.

The first picture is of us in front of the entrance, just to prove we were there ! The second picture is of us in front of the château that makes up It's A  Small  World. The third picture is of us with the Bury's. The fourth picture shows Connor waiting to go get on the Dumbo ride !

We had a package deal and it included a breakfast with the Disney characters. This turned out to be a huge hit with the kids and worth every penny. It was actually decent food, too. The pictures should be obvious.

Just a little note. In the U.S. we also heard how the French were so upset about American culture taking over. This picture shows why. This rather garish McDonald's is one of the first things you see when you get to EuroDisney. Maybe they have a point !
